Inspired by Pink Shirt Day, Random Acts of Kindness (RAK) week, the Kindness Boomerang video by Life Vest Inside, and our study of the “One Smile” story, our class set out last week to create our own kindness boomerang. We have a challenge starting at our school for the next two weeks to help restock the shelves of our food bank! We had a visitor speak at our school to tell us all about it.

Here is a picture of our last day with the beautiful class mural designed and painted by our class with the direction of Mary, Tristen’s mom! A big thank you to Mary for giving us this wonderful opportunity. I cannot wait to see these up on the side of the school :).

In preparation for our Grade 3 Assembly tomorrow at 11 I have been going through all kinds of photos throughout our year to create a slideshow. I even came across some from when students in our class were in kindergarten and grade one! Wow, how we grow!

Each year our school participates in Jump Rope for Heart. At our kickoff assembly the middle school Skipping Club gave us a fun performance! On Wednesday next week we will enjoy some activities in our gym to promote healthy living.

To celebrate Pink Shirt Day students in our school met in the gym to create kindness graffiti! I can’t wait to see the final product :). We watched a few videos about kindness and then, as Kid President loves to say, “let’s dance!”

Yesterday we celebrated our annual Carnaval with French students from the high school as well as K-3 students from the other school in town. We had a great time outside! Here are some highlights:

The last day of school is upon us. For the grade 3’s that means they will be off to middle school in the fall. We will all miss them dearly! Here is a video of the grade 3’s celebrating at the Amazing Race with the other grade 3’s in our area.

Last night some students in our school traveled with their families to a town nearby to enjoy a WHL hockey game. It was a special night at the arena…Pink the Rink! Even the team had pink skate laces and pink tape on the end of their hockey sticks. This night is in support of Pink Shirt Day coming up on Wednesday, February 25.
We hope to see you at our assembly on Wednesday, February 25 at 11:00am!

As you can see from the amazing descriptive words above we had a blast being outside today for 3 straight hours going to different activities with our buddy groups! Here are a couple of videos of Mrs. Kostiuk’s buddy group:
