How Raven’s Feathers Turned Black

We got to enjoy the beautiful outdoors by taking our nature journals out to the outdoor classroom. Here we like to sketch, colour, or write about the nature we see around us.

After, Mrs. Sharpe told us an interesting Aboriginal legend about how Raven’s feathers turned black. Next, we got to play a game based on the story.

Here is another version of how Raven’s feathers turned black:

Which version of how Raven’s feathers turned black do you like best? Have you heard any other versions?

How do you play the game that went along with this legend? How could we change the game to make it last longer?

Flora the Wolf

We had an exciting visit from the Northern Lights Wolf Centre today. If you follow our blog you would see that Flora the wolf visited us a few years ago, too! We loved learning about wolves and seeing Flora today. We even got to play a fun wolf game called “Flora Says”!

What did you learn about wolves?

Why are wolves important to have in our forests? What would happen if they weren’t there?

Grow Plants Grow!

Our science fair is coming up this Thursday, June 2 from 9am-1pm!

Students have been busy watering their plants, making observations, preparing their science boards, and baking up a storm in the kitchen. We can’t wait for Thursday!

What are you making for the science fair?

What has been your favourite part of your science fair project so far?

SunMine Tour

If you have been following our blog this year you would see all of the learning and exploring we have done on solar energy. This week we had the opportunity to visit our community’s SunMine. It was so cool to see the solar panels in person! A big thanks to Mrs. Sharpe for organizing the trip and to Mr. Sommerville for telling us all about this exciting project!
