Olive, the Other Reindeer

Here are the lyrics to the songs we will be singing in the Christmas concert next week! Our concert times are
Wednesday, December 7 at 1:00pm
Thursday, December 8 at 1:00pm
Thursday, December 8 at 6:00pm

Hope to see you there :)!

*To the tune of “Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer”

You know Dasher, and Dancer, and
Prancer, and Vixen,
Comet, and Cupid, and
Donner and Blitzen
But do you recall
The Strangest reindeer of all

*Boomwhacker interlude

Olive, the other reindeer
had some very tiny paws
and if you ever saw her
you would even say she’s small.

Olive the other reindeer
likes to laugh and learn friends names
She always let martini,
Join in all the reindeer games.

Then one crazy Christmas eve
Santa came to say:
“Blitzen with your leg so broke,
you can’t pull my sleigh tonight?”

Then all the reindeer found her
and they shouted out Olive,
Olive the other reindeer,
We need you to pull Santa’s sleigh!
WE NEED YOU TO PULL SANTA’S SLEIGH!

*Opening Whole School Song*
Days Still Remaining Until Christmas

I love Valentine’s Day
And the First of July.
I’m a little bit sad
When Halloween has gone by.

I’m thankful Thanksgiving
Comes around in the fall,
But I’ve always loved Christmas;
The best of them all.

Everyday’s special,
I’m not complaining.
but I’m always counting
The days still remaining…
‘Til Christmas!
(Repeat two more times, each time getting quieter)

*Closing Whole School Song*
Merry Christmas After All

I don’t have antlers, I don’t have hooves,
How flying works, I have no clue.
But now, I’ve got the reindeer moves,
I’m a true blue member of the crew!

Get to Olive to remind us,
You can’t give up on Christmas Eve.
Now, the trouble’s all behind us,
‘Cause Olive taught us how to believe!

So, Merry Christmas after all,
To everybody big and small.

I pulled the sleigh and had a ball,
So, Merry Christmas…
After all!

(Instrumental)

If you’ve got the Christmas spirit,
Let nothing you dismay.
You don’t need springs, or wings, or strings,
To fly on Christmas Day.

So, let Olive’s tale remind you,
On this Christmas Eve,
It’s all right there inside you,
You just have to believe!

So, Merry Christmas after all,
To everybody big and small.

Dare if I choose a fireball,
So, Merry Christmas after all!

Merry Christmas after all,
To all the creatures great and small.
Pull your sleigh and have a ball,

So, Merry Christmas…
so, Merry Christmas…
After all!

Three Cheers for Olive the Other Reindeer!

Do you skate with your family?

What would you like to learn during our skating time in January?

Lonely Christmas Eve

Our school concert will be based on “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” by Dr. Seuss this year!

Our class song is “Lonely Christmas Eve” (the second song in the playlist). Here are the words and a video of the music for our song and our school songs.

I’m not so bad,
I just hate to see a good time had
By everyone but me
On this lonely Christmas Eve —
I hear them up and down
And up and down the street

They’re making noise, noise, noise, noise—
How I hate their happy noise
There’s only one thing I hate more come to think of it
And that’s the people who keep making it

Don’t they know I’m up here all alone
In my cave up in the hills?
How I wish that this would go away
This dreadful holiday that they call Christmas day

When they’re done with all their Christmas noise
And they’ve had their Christmas feast
Just when I think I might finally
Get a moments peace they start to SING!

Here are the lyrics for our whole school songs of “Green Christmas” and “Welcome Christmas“.

We Love Recycling!

Our school has been designated a “green school” because of the many environmental projects that we do! Here are a couple of things we have done this week:

Every year before Christmas we have a Recycled Shopping event. Families donate new and gently used items to the school and our amazing PAC group helps to set them up in the gym. Students in every class make tags (out of old Christmas cards) for their family members and get to visit the gym to shop. Thank you so much to all of our parent volunteers for making this event a great success every year!

IMG_0140 IMG_0141 IMG_0143 IMG_0144IMG_0145Another activity I like to do every year with our class is to make an ornament. This year we made our ornaments from frozen juice lids (thanks Mrs. Burgess for saving them!) and the rings from our jars of applesauce that we made in October. I think they worked out very nicely! Good work grade 2’s and 3’s!

We’re A Couple of Misfits

It’s getting to be that time of year where we start practicing for our school Christmas Concert! This year our concert will be centered around Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer!

Our class will be performing the song, We’re A Couple of Misfits”Here is a recording of Mrs. Haggard singing our song and Miss Trish playing the piano. You can sing along with the lyrics below!

We’re a couple of misfits
We’re a couple of misfits
What’s the matter with misfits?
That’s where we fit in!

We’re not daffy and dilly
Don’t go ’round willy nilly
Seems to us kinda silly
That we don’t fit in.

We may be different from the rest
Who decides the test?
Of what is really best?

We’re a couple of misfits
We’re a couple of misfits
What’s the matter with misfits?
That’s where we fit in!

Why am I such a misfit?
I am not just a nit wit!
I’m an adorable reindeer
Why don’t I fit in?

Why am I such a misfit?
I am not just a nit wit!
They can’t fire me.
I QUIT!

We may be different from the rest
Who decides the test
Of what is really best?

We’re a couple of misfits
We’re a couple of misfits
What’s the matter with misfits?
That’s where we fit in!
