At the request of some of our classmates, here are some videos of us enjoying “extreme crazy carpeting” with Mrs. Sharpe’s class after our dress rehearsal today. We even got “The Grinch” enjoying a slide on camera :). Check out the post below for concert times!
Where is the best spot you have ever gone sledding?
What are you looking forward to this week?

We’ve had a busy week in and out of the classroom, but it sure has been fun!
To start off our week, Maylyn and her mom told us about their trip to South Africa.
Check out the video below to see some of the amazing sights in this country.
Next, we traveled to Ukraine to learn from Remy and his mom about their family traditions.
Finally, we flew over to England to spend a few days. We learned from Ben and his mom about Christmas traditions, including Christmas crackers.
We thought it would be fun to make our own and exchange them with Mrs. Sharpe’s class next week!
Which animals can you see in South Africa?
Tell me something you learned about the Ukrainian Christmas meal.
What joke are you going to put in your English Christmas cracker?
We had a great time skating today and can’t wait for our weekly skates starting in January! Here are some pictures of us enjoying our time with the rest of our school.
Do you skate with your family?
What would you like to learn during our skating time in January?
Our classmate, Justin, has been working on a special project during Choice time – the Titanic! Justin was really interested about researching the Titanic and decided to make a model as he learned about it.
Here are two videos that look at the sinking of the Titanic:
New CGI of how the Titanic sank
Deconstructing History: Titanic
Did you know anything about the Titanic? What did you learn from Justin?
What would you like to learn about?
This week we set off on an adventure…around the world! We are learning about winter and Christmas traditions in different countries. To start off, we talked about Canada and learned about some Aboriginal traditions in December. Every winter Solstice (the longest night and shortest day), a gratitude stick is made and buried. Mrs. Keiver helped us make our own gratitude sticks by using willow, cedar, turkey feathers, fur, ceremonial tobacco, and sinew.
We started our travels by “visiting” Victoria and hearing about life in Ottawa from Mrs. MacLeod. Next, we had a flight over to France where we checked out the Eiffel Tower. After that, we took a short flight to Sweden to learn from Mr. Chris. To finish off our week we boarded a red-eye flight to South Africa – we should arrive there on Monday :). Here are a few pictures of our travels so far:
Which place have you enjoyed learning about the most so far?
Are you going to bury your gratitude stick on December 17?
Today we set up a workshop in the gym with our high school’s woodworking class! We had great fun building our projects with our big buddies :).
Have you ever used a hammer or drill before?
What was your favourite part of this activity?
Who are you going to give your project to?
