This week we carved pumpkins and then had a howl in the gym with Mrs. Sharpe’s class so that the rest of the school could see our fantastic designs!

Thursday, October 24 was Take Me Outside Day. In the morning, we went to a nearby park to play in the leaves for our daily physical activity time and then in the afternoon we played kickball outside.
Today we travelled to Kootenay Alpine Cheese farm and Truscott’s Fruit Stand to learn about where some of our food comes from. We also got to pick out our own pumpkins to carve for our Halloween Howl next week! Here are some pictures and a slideshow of our day. Check out Mrs. Sharpe‘s blog for more pictures!
Tell me:
1 thing you learned at the farm

Your favourite part of the trip
Today we had our first Recognition Assembly. We will be having three more of these throughout the year. At these assemblies, each class usually presents something to show what they are learning about. For this assembly, our class talked about making the apple sauce we brought home for thanksgiving. Here are some pictures of us making apple sauce *I will try and upload a video of our performance at the assembly later*:
Our next assembly will be our Remembrance Day assembly in November. Together as a school we will be singing a beautiful rendition of the song, “Hallelujah”. You can find the lyrics here or under Learning Links in the Songs section.
Today we had the unique experience of watching the group LAPIS perform. They played a combination of Bhangra, dancehall, and hip-hop, as well as Indian Classical music on the Sitar.
To learn more and hear more of their music, check out their website. Also, check out some of their songs on SoundCloud:
Yesterday Mrs. P. showed Mrs. Sharpe’s and our class a powerpoint highlighting the progress of her house being built in Forest Crowne to teach us more about structures. Today we got to take a bus tour of Forest Crowne and see the different stages of building that occur when building a house.
What did you learn about building a house?
Which part of the tour was your favourite and why?
