Structures
We have started our first science unit of the year – Structures! We are learning that there are two different types of structures: natural structures and human-made structures. This week we have been talking about what kind of structures are around us. Check out this video of a popular human-made structure that I know many of you love to go on:
Check out the structures we created with our bodies in gym!
In Science we are learning about Structures. Here are some structures we created in gym up with our partners!
What kinds of structures do you see around us?
Bus Safety
This week our school has been learning about bus safety. Many of us ride the bus to and from school every day, but all of us need to ride the bus for all of the cool field trips we go on each year, so we need to know how to be safe! Check out these photos of our class learning about bus safety from Bus Driver Glen:
What do you know about bus safety?
After you comment, check out Mrs. Sharpe’s blog to leave a comment about The Book Fair!
Our Heroes
We have been talking about heroes in our classroom…superheroes and real heroes in our community.
Terry Fox is another real hero we have talked about. Our annual school Terry Fox run is coming up this Thursday, September 26 at 9:30am. We will be having a short assembly to kick off our run around our school neighbourhood. Check out this video of students learning about Terry Fox and getting ready for the run!

Kootenay Kids Cooperate
Our class is participating in the Kootenay Savings calendar contest. This year’s theme is “Kootenay Kids Cooperate”. Students created a picture showing cooperation in our community. Here are a few examples:
In gym this month we are also focussing on cooperation through games. One of the new games we have played is called “Dwarves, Wizards, and Giants”. Here are a few pictures:

Buddy Reading
We have buddy reading every day (except Friday) right before lunch. Buddy reading with the whole school will start next week! Grade 2’s will be partnered with a kindergarten buddy and Grade 3’s will be partnered with a grade 1 buddy. Today we practiced buddy reading with the other grade 2/3 class. Check out our pictures…you can also see more pictures on Mrs. Sharpe’s blog!
